Man left with gunshot wound to the leg after drive-by-shooting in southwest Houston, HPD says

The man was walking in front of an apartment complex when a random vehicle drove by and opened fire before fleeing the scene, HPD said.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- The Houston Police Department is investigating a drive-by shooting that injured one man in southwest Houston on Friday.

Police said the shooting happened at about 10:45 p.m. in the 8700 block of Gustine Lane near Braeswood Boulevard.

Upon arrival, officers found one man with an apparent gunshot wound to his leg.

HPD officers said they rendered aid by applying a tourniquet until paramedics arrived.

The man was said to be walking in front of the Wesley Gardens Apartment Complex when an unidentified vehicle drove by, opened fire, and fled, HPD said.

According to HPD, the motive for the shooting is unknown at this time.

The victim was taken to the hospital in stable condition but is expected to survive, police said.
