HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Two frontage roads have reopened after a spill on the northbound lanes of SH 288 at Almeda Genoa.
Crews worked five hours to clean up the giant olive oil spill.
HPD sent units around 4:30am to shut down the intersection after the oil was spilled on the roadway.
Firefighters say they do not know where the oil came from, and believe the vehicle which dropped the oil just kept going.
Emergency workers attempted to wash the oil off the road, but that didn't help the situation.
Absorbent clay has been spread over the intersection, where crews are still trying to clean it all up.
