1 dead in dump truck wreck in northeast Harris County

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A person is dead after a wreck early this morning involving a dump truck in northeast Harris County.

The wreck happened around 6:30am on East Mt. Houston Road and Suburban Road.

Harris County Sheriff's deputies are on the scene.

Authorities tell us on the two-lane road, a driver in a white truck passed a red Mustang. The Mustang driver apparently wasn't pleased with the move and decided to pass the truck driver himself.

When the driver moved to pass the truck, the Mustang crashed into an oncoming dump truck.

The Mustang driver died instantly.

No one was injured in the other vehicle.

The investigation is ongoing.

There's no word on the identity and gender of the victim at this time.
