HOUSTON (KTRK) -- The Harris County District Attorney's Office says scammers are targeting Harris County residents, pretending to be representatives from their office.
Devon Anderson's office says scammers are calling residents to inquire about a loan they have opened and then ask for their paperwork. When people ask questions, they are put on hold and the phone call is disconnected.
In some cases, victims claim they are receiving paper notices at their home, telling them to call a certain phone number to speak with one of the DA's Office staff.
If residents receive one of these calls or a paper notice like this, they're being asked to report it to law enforcement.
