HARDIN, TX -- A Hardin man who pleaded guilty to firing on law enforcement officers during a May 25, 2012, SWAT standoff at his home on FM 1011 was sentenced to five years in prison Thursday in the 75th State District Court in the Liberty County Courthouse.

William Robert "Bill" Wingfield, 51, was indicted in April 2013 on six counts of Aggravated Assault on a Public Servant, each a first-degree felony because a deadly weapon was a factor.

On Monday, Sept. 14, Wingfield pleaded guilty and was found guilty of the charges. A jury was asked to decide his sentence. On Tuesday, jurors began hearing evidence in the case.
