Cameras capture Halloween decoration thief at El Paso home

EL PASO, TX (KTRK) -- Surveillance video captured a thief stealing an El Paso family's Halloween decoration from their front yard.

"He just came, he pulled up to our driveway, didn't even turn off the lights and I guess he walked up here and he just took our balloon," Lluvia Chevalier told KFOX-TV.

The blow up decoration was a Minion dressed to look like a pirate. Video from the home's three surveillance cameras captured the whole thing.

"Honestly I thought it was funny, because who does that? I mean, you see the guy and he's like, walking toward our house pulling his pants up and he tries to put the balloon inside his truck and he just couldn't and then he just drives off with the balloon hanging out," Chevalier said.

The family says this isn't the first time they've had someone steal decorations from their front yard.

"I mean it's scary. It's scary and it's sad that we can't even put things up or leave things out here because somebody will just take it," Chevalier told KFOX-TV. "From now on, I think we're going to have to bolt our balloons balloons down or something."

The family is now considering purchasing a fourth surveillance camera in hopes of catching the license plate number of any future crook.
