HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A scare at an elementary school in southwest Houston, where HISD says a fifth grader brought an unloaded pistol to school.

The district sent letters home to parents of kids at Montgomery Elementary Thursday. The letter says the child took a 22-caliber gun to school and then threatened another child in the bathroom with it.

The kid who was threatened told a teacher, police were called and the gun recovered. The child with the gun was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and possession of a prohibited weapon in a school zone. Disciplinary action is being taken against the fifth grader.

No one was injured.
