Congratulations to ABC13's Gina Gaston, a 2016 Women of Distinction honoree

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- ABC13 has honored 13 Houston-area women for going above and beyond to make our community better.

Our very own anchor Gina Gaston was among the honorees at the event. She was one of the 9 women recognized as a Woman of Distinction at the Crohns and Colitis Foundation's Winter Ball last night.

Three others were honored as an ambassador, a young rising star, and an honored hero.

All were chosen for their charity work and tireless volunteer hours.

"Their incredible work in the Houston community, thanks to that, there are so many causes out there and so many people who are better off," says abc13 anchor Melanie Lawson, who emceed last night's event alongside our own Tom Koch.
