HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Jay Aiyer, Assistant Director of the Barbara Jordan Institute for Policy Research at Texas Southern University and David Branham, Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of Houston-Downtown, discuss U.S. Representative Gene Green's decision not to seek re-election after his current term ends.
Green says he wants to spend more time with family. He has served in Congress representing the 29th congressional district for over 25 years.
The move opens the door for voters in the mostly Latino district to send its first Hispanic representative to Congress.
