COPPELL, TX -- Retail gasoline prices across Texas dropped by 3 cents this week to reach an average of $2.55 per gallon.
AAA Texas reported Thursday that the nationwide average rose by a penny, settling at $2.77 a gallon.
Of the major metro areas in Texas, drivers in El Paso were paying the most at $2.65 per gallon while motorists in Beaumont paid the least, at an average of $2.47.
AAA says drivers in Texas and across much of the country are paying less now than at this time a year ago.
Lower global crude oil prices are contributing to a downward pressure on gasoline prices across the nation.
