BAYTOWN, TX (KTRK) -- An innocent bystander was gunned down in cold blood overnight, but some quick-thinking witnesses may help police catch his killer.

The shooting happened just after midnight at a Valero gas station in the 1600 block of North Alexander in Baytown. Witnesses told police that a man and woman were arguing while at the gas pumps. The man then turned to a bystander, cursed at him and shot him for no reason and fled the scene, according to police.

The victim, identified as Glen Flowers, 32, died at the scene.

Witnesses told officers the suspect was a black male who drove off in a gray Chevy pickup truck, and they were able to provide the license plate of the truck. Detectives have identified a person of interest in the case -- Walter Pickering, 25, of Baytown.
