RICHMOND, TX (KTRK) -- Fort Bend County has just sworn in its first female Latina district court judge.
Maggie Perez Jaramillo was appointed earlier this month by Governor Rick Perry. She will preside over the 400th District Court through the 2016 General Election. Jaramillo will fill the vacancy in that position following the retirement by Judge Cliff Vacek.
Jaramillio has been an attorney in private practice and is a former assistant county attorney in Starr County.
According to the Governor's office, she is a member of the Fort Bend County Criminal Defense Attorneys Association and the Fort Bend County Mental Health Board. She is also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3903, volunteer for the Hispanic Scholarship fund and a gate keeper for the Fort Bend County Fair.
