DANBURY, Texas (KTRK) -- Residents in Danbury woke up to flooded homes and streets as more than 11 inches of rain hit the area.
Eyewitness News spoke to homeowners about the water that reached inside their homes.
"About 4 a.m., my neighbors woke me up. We were getting water in the house and my car has water in it," Amy Meeks said.
Meeks' home was flooded overnight after the rain started coming down on the area around midnight.
"I've never seen it like this," Meeks said.
Lacie Williams lives on 2nd and Avenue A where she and her family were trying to get the water out of their home.
"Just woke up. It was hot. Was going to bump the AC down, and I put my feet down and it was water. It totally shocked me. I had no idea what was going on," Williams said.
Christy Zetka and her family have made it through years of rainstorms and even a hurricane in their home on Co. Rd. 211.
This is the first time their home has flooded. Zetka operates a hair salon on the first floor of the home. Much of her equipment is now ruined.
"I can't believe it's happening," Zetka said, "I'm devastated that something I worked on on a daily basis is now gone and it's sad."
Zetka's customers could not make it to their appointments today. She said she plans on opening back up as soon as possible.
Her equipment was not insured.
