HOUSTON (KTRK) -- I love it when scammers call me. Nothing breaks up a day at my desk like a call from a lowlife trying to pry money from me not knowing he's about to be on TV.
This call came in yesterday. 'Peter Smith' (whose called ID was from the Polish Embassy) called from the (non-existent) US Department of Grants to offer me $7,000. I didn't get my cash, but he did offer to pray for me.
In case you're curious how serious a problem it is, here is another time a scammer called with the same line of tired nonsense. It is a huge problem.
The Federal Trade Commission has extensive tips on how to spot and handle phone scams. For that information, visit the FTC's website.
