Local man competing in Lids Ultimate Hat Collection contest

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A guy is showing off the extensive hat collection, which led him to be a finalist in the Lids Ultimate Hat Collection contest.

David Gebhardt is one of five finalist in the competition. He began collecting all these caps in the early 1990s and has about 450 hats in his collection.

Gebhardt has a lot of caps that represent or pay tribute to Houston in various ways.

The winner will be decided by an online vote that ends Saturday night. Gebhardt said Lids has not revealed what prize the top vote winner will receive.
