HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Homeowners packed a town hall meeting Tuesday night, concerned about a series of burglaries in their community.

Authorities report nearly two dozen burglaries in Clear Lake over the past few months.

That news was enough to make it standing-room-only at this crime prevention meeting. Thieves have gotten away with mostly cash and jewelry. Investigators are still looking into whether the thieves are working together. They're using different getaway cars and different methods of getting into homes.

"The motion sensor was right here and that apparently didn't pick it up when they tried to crawl," victim Shailaja Janapati said.

Investigators say the thieves have been hitting homes between 8:30am and 2pm.

Investigators say homeowners should do what they can to appear at home. They also say they are stepping up patrols in the area.
