RICHMOND, TX (KTRK) -- The Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office is making it easier for residents to know why there are emergency vehicles on their street.

The department's website now features an "Active Emergency Calls" page. The site will show you the incident type, the area dispatched, the time received, and the units assigned.

The list is updated every three minutes, so you'll have the latest information about what's happening in your neighborhood.

"We want our citizens to be aware of situations that automatically raise questions for residents," said Sheriff Troy E. Nehls. "Now, when they hear the sirens or see the lights around the corner, they'll be able to find out what kind of call is being made. We want our residents to stay informed."
