Driver slams into utility pole, knocks out power to 1,000

CONROE, TX (KTRK) -- Authorities say a suspected drunk driver slammed his truck into a utility pole, broke the pole and dropped power lines on his vehicle.

It happened around midnight at FM 1314 near McQueen Street. Power was knocked out to at least 1,000 nearby residents.

The driver was taken to the hospital. Crews say the repairs could take hours.
