Several men came to the rescue of a downed horse

WESTPORT, MA -- Rescuers pulled a horse from a muddy embankment after being stuck for hours.

There is no word yet on the condition of the 17-year-old horse, but there are signs that the animal may be in recovery.

Animal rescue workers say the horse was seen eating shortly after the rescue.

A man who works on the Massachusetts farm and assisted in the rescue was injured when the horse kicked him in the chest.

He was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
