ATASCOCITA, Texas (KTRK) -- Investigators say an accomplished scholar was shot in the head and killed by his boyfriend in Atascocita.
Deputies say 28-year-old Devon Wade was fatally shot late Sunday night. Mario Williams is in jail on a $100,000 bond on a murder charge.
ABC13 spoke with the victim back in 2010 when he was named a Truman Scholar at Louisiana State University.
He was the first African American and student outside of the honors college to win the award, and was working on his Ph.D. at Columbia University.
At the time, Wade told us he benefited from a program called "No More Victims," which helped children of incarcerated parents.
