PITTSBURGH, PA (KTRK) -- A deer survived a scary ordeal after it became stuck in a metal fence.

A Pittsburgh police officer led the charge to free the poor animal, which was visibly distraught.

Video shows the officer wrapping the deer with a blanket he had in his patrol vehicle. Then a crew of people set out to bring the deer to freedom.

Some cable cutters weren't strong enough to break through the steel bars, so they used a tool similar to the jaws of life.

Officer Jim Genco with Animal Care and Control says the SWAT jack was able to free the animal, which ran off as soon as the bars loosened their grip.
