HOUSTON (KTRK) -- An overnight house fire in northeast Houston left one person dead and two people with serious burns.
It happened around midnight at a home in the 100 block of Shady Lane.
Fire crews arrived to find the home engulfed in flames and two people in the backyard with severe burns. Both were airlifted to Memorial Hermann Hospital.
Firefighters then discovered the body of a woman in her 50s near the back of the home. She had died.
Neighbors say they heard explosions and that there were Acetylene tanks, used for welding, inside the home. They also say the elderly woman, her son and his wife, all lived in the home.
The two family dogs also survived.
It took nearly an hour to put out the fire. Investigators still don't know what caused the blaze. The identity of the victim hasn't been released.
