HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A Houston areas school is celebrating 40 years of school pride and a number of famous celebrities who have shined bright over the years.
"Some things have not changed," said Cypress Creek teacher Karen Rhodes who has been a teacher at the school since it opened in the early 1970's. "It was a brand-new school, so it was very exciting."

Rhodes showed us a yearbook from the very first class of 1973. She talked about how much has changed.
"We used to have smoking was allowed, even in the teachers lounge smoking was allowed," said Rhodes.

Though the years, there have been many success stories coming out of the school. Aside from have more than 500 national merit scholars, the school has a huge case full of trophies, medals and plaques. And right next to that, a special trophy case with three golden footballs, giving to schools who's former students have won Super Bowl Championships. Those former students Dan Neil, who played with the Broncos, Sam Adams with the Ravens, and Cameron Fleming with the Patriots.
From success to the love. Jocelyn Mclemore says her parents met in the hallways at Cy-Creek and fell in love.

"I wouldn't be here," said Mclemore who is the 11th Cougar in her family. "I think it's crazy that they have been with each other for so long and that it started here. And I'm going here now. It's crazy."
Plans for the 40th anniversary celebration have not yet been finalized.
