Man in critical condition after falling from overpass near Midtown

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A man fell off an overpass near Midtown on Spur 527 and Milam Street early this morning.

It happened about 1:14am at Milam and West Alabama. Apparently the man fell from Spur 527 onto the roadway below. It's a fall of about 16 or 17 feet.

Police are still trying to figure out exactly what happened. So far we can tell you the victim is a man in his mid-twenties. At last update, he was in critical condition with severe head injuries.

Apparently the man and a friend left a nearby bar shortly before this happened.

Police say foul play is being ruled out. There is a car facing the wrong way on the Spur. We're told the car belonged to the victim.

The investigation is still underway.
