Driver injured after crashing into tree in SE Houston

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Police suspect alcohol was to blame after a driver crashed into a tree in southeast Houston.

The accident happened just before 2am in the 2600 block of Forest Oaks Drive at Timbercreek Drive.

Investigators say the driver of a red BMW was traveling at a high rate of speed and over corrected while traveling northbound on Forest Oaks Drive. The driver hit a stop sign and then collided sideways into a tree.

The driver was trapped inside the vehicle when first responders arrived.

They were transported to Ben Taub Hospital with a broken leg and other non life-threatening injuries.
