Search underway for driver in deadly Conroe hit and run

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A search underway right now for a hit and run driver who killed a man in Conroe.

This is happening at Country West and Shaw Circle.

Officials say a man was walking along the road when a driver hit him. The impact threw the victim into a ditch, where he died.

We're told that victim was 28 years old. The driver didn't even stop to help.

Right now, investigators are collecting evidence, including pieces of the vehicle left behind.

Officials are not searching for a red Ford pickup, possibly an F250 or F350. It has damage to the right headlight, and may be covered in dry mud.
