Top five tips for making memorable Christmas cookies

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- If you are looking for a new way to impress Santa with your baking skills, here are a few pointers from the pros!

Sarah Brook, owner of Houston's beloved Dessert Gallery, explains how to make easy and fun holiday treats for the whole family.

1. Get inspiration from websites such as Pinterest. Look for kid-friendly recipes that have fewer than ten ingredients.


2. Consider keeping the oven off! Many recipes (including the one in this video) do not require baking.


3. Decorate using seasonal items, like candy canes, mini-marshmallows, and Christmas-colored candies.


4. Make miniature versions of your favorite recipes - there will be more to go around!


5. Don't be afraid to make a mess! (We won't tell Santa!)
