HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Police captured the driver of a small red car after a wild pursuit through Fort Bend County. The suspect was driving at a high rate of speed, approaching 100 miles per hour, before jumping out and leading officers on a foot chase.
The driver left the main lanes of Highway 59 in a construction zone near Williams Way, before jumping out of the car and running barefoot across the highway.
The man ran through the Clayton Oaks Living complex before giving up when encountered a couple of citizens unloading a vehicle. He laid down on the ground and surrendered. Police moved in with guns drawn and took the man into custody.
It's believed the driver was the only person in the vehicle.
The pursuit began on Chimney Rock, but it's unknown what prompted the chase. No injuries were reported.
