Low cost pet vaccinations

I went out this past weekend to visit Citizen for Animal Protection's newly opened Low Cost Vaccination Clinic.

Olivia Bell was there with her daughter Gracelyn and their kitten Nahla.

Nahla was found as a stray and needed her shots. Olivia says she came to CAP because she feels good about her money going back to the shelter to help other animals in need. She says the low cost of the shots is also a plus.

While I was there, doggie Zephyr came by for a check-up. Zephyr is a sweetie and is up for adoption at the CAP shelter.

The clinic provides vaccinations, heartworm testing, Feline Leukemia testing, deworming and nail trims. The clinic also sells flea/tick and heartworm preventative for pets.

Prices start at $37 for a beginning kitten shots package and $40 for a beginning puppy shots package. These prices include the office visit.

Individual vaccines, such as influenza, bordatella, and Feline Leukemia are also available.

The clinic is open every Saturday from 9am to 1pm. All animals will be seen on a first come basis, there are no appointments. All cats must be in carriers and dogs on leashes.

CAP is located at 17555 Katy Freeway, Houston, 77094. This is on the south side frontage road of I-10, east of the Barker Cypress exit.

The clinic is in a building behind the main shelter.
