A driver coming eastbound hit the back of another car and that started a chain reaction that sent the first car into the path of an oncoming truck.

Houston Police say a Hispanic woman traveling eastbound on Scarsdale hit another car that was trying to turn into a subdivision.

That accident was relatively minor, but it caused the car driven by the Hispanic woman to cross into the westbound lanes of Scarsdale and into the path of a white pickup truck.

The head-on collision caused severe damage to both vehicles.

Police say the woman in the car died from her injuries, and the two children in the car with her were also injured.

People who live here say this stretch of road is dangerous because with no street lights it is very dark at night.

They tell us they have tried to get street lights out here but so far it has not happened.

In all three people were taken to the hospital.
