HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Want to track your child's bus ride home? Now some HISD parents can, thanks to a new online service the district is providing.

A new mobile friendly website called Silver Lining allows parents and legal guardians to check their children's morning and afternoon commute to and from schools in real time. With the student's ID number and HISD account number, parents can follow the bus route, as well as check when their kids boarded or disembarked from the bus. Parents also can opt to receive emails or text messages when their child's bus enters or leaves a specific zone.

"We are so excited to be rolling out this program, which will provide parents the ability to track their child's school bus arrival and departure in real time," HISD Transportation General Manager Nathan Graf said.

Right now, the service is available only at Oates and Poe elementary school. However, all elementary schools are expected to be added by the end of the year, while middle and high schools will be added by the end of February.
