Officer, burglary suspect hit by truck in Southside Place, authorities say

SOUTHSIDE PLACE, TX (KTRK) -- A Southside Place Police officer and a burglary suspect were hit by a pickup truck this morning near Edloe and Bellaire.

Southside Police say the officer spotted two suspects breaking into cars near the 24-Hour Fitness on Kirby. The suspects were chased through the West University neighborhood and that's where the Southside Place police took over.

The suspects bailed out of their vehicle on Bellaire and split up. A Southside Place officer saw the suspect and gave chase on foot.

The officer and one of the suspects were then clipped by a passing landscaper's pickup truck.

We're hearing their injuries were not life-threatening.

The suspect who was hit is now in custody. The second suspect got away.
