HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Authorities believe two people broke into a high-end jewelry store in River Oaks through the roof and one of them made a getaway by leaping 15 feet between buildings.

The attempted heist took place this morning at the Deutsch & Deutsch Jewelers on Westheimer near Weslayan.

According to law enforcement, two suspects wearing dark masks, hooded sweatshirts and gloves broke into the business, rappelling from a hole in the roof. Surveillance video showed the suspects breaking display cases. The suspects took off with trails of jewelry and other debris scattered as they left.

One of the suspects was able to get back on the roof and ran to the end of the strip of buildings in the shopping center. Investigators said the suspects made a huge leap to a neighboring building.

No arrests have been made yet in the case.

Surveillance cameras captured an image of one of the suspects.

Store owner Lance Deutsch was awakened with news of the incident from his security team. According to him, nothing of value is kept in display cases overnight.

Deutsch says this is the first such incident that has happened at the store, which has been in business for 23 years.

Despite the mess left behind, he plans to open as normal later today.

"I will be open at 10 a.m." Deutsch said laughing. "Well, come on. We got three shopping days left (until Christmas)."
