Deputies in Montgomery County say the man was hit along the tracks near Old Humble Road and Aldine Bender shortly before 8:30 a.m..
"Trains, they blow their horns to try to notify people they're coming. In this incident, I don't believe the conductor knew an individual was on the tracks," said Detective Mchale Burnett with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office. "I think he was just aware there was a bicycle when he struck it. He was unaware of the human."
The Harris County Sheriff's Office was also responding to the train accident. Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said units responded to Old Humble Road and Aldine Bender after it was reported the moving train hit a cyclist at some point.
The train traveled south and stopped in Harris County, where authorities are now searching the tracks. Deputies said they will review cameras on the train to help further their investigation.
The identity of the man killed has not been released.
