Today is Batman Day!

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Today is Batman Day. Fans world wide are celebrating the 75th anniversary of the first ever Batman comic book.

The Dark Knight made his debut in 1939. The Caped Crusader appeared first in Detective Comics #27. Ever since, Batman has been one DC Comics most recognizable and profitable superheros.

The Batman character is a vigilante who fights crime in the fictional city of Gotham. As the story goes, he witnessed the murders of his parents when he was a child and grew up then hoping to avenge their deaths.
