VIDEO: Teen basketball player impaled by floorboard

MIDDLETON, WI (KTRK) -- A 14-year-old girl was hurt in a freak accident on the basketball court. She was impaled by the floorboard and it was all caught on camera.

Surveillance video shows the 14-year-old falling during a game and sliding across the floor.

She then stays down because a piece of wood -- about 4 inches long -- went through her torso. She was taken to the hospital and amazingly no organs were punctured -- and even more amazing? She's expected to play again this week.

Meanwhile, school officials tell local station WISC they don't know how this could have happened. They say the floor is fairly new. They are now working to fix it.
