HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Houston police are searching for a man who carjacked and sexually assaulted a woman early Wednesday morning in southwest Houston.

The ordeal started at the woman's apartment complex in the 7400 block of South Gessner. The victim says a black man approached her and forced her into her car and drive a mile away to 800 Roos Road at Lansdale Park.

Once there, police say he forced her out of her car at gunpoint and sexually assaulted her.

After the attack, he fled in her car, according to authorities. Police recovered the vehicle in the 7100 block of Pella.

The victim was hospitalized. There's no word on her condition.
