Detectives search for clues into murders of two women dumped in Port Bolivar

HOUSTON

Britney Cosby and Crystal Jackson were found murdered nearly two weeks ago. Their bodies were found behind a grocery store near a dumpster. Investigators say it appeared Cosby was beaten to death, and her girlfriend was shot.

Investigators are using 4-wheelers to search a wooded area in Houston where they say evidence linked to the murders was recovered. Deputies are still searching for the victim's missing silver-colored, 2006 Kia Sorrenta.

Detectives have already made one arrest in the murder case. James Larry Cosby, Britney's father, is in jail on charges of tampering with evidence. Investigators believe Cosby played a part in the young couple's murder. Several family members say Cosby did not agree with his daughter being gay. They say he would often ridicule her for dating women.

In addition to searching parts of Houston's south side, investigators are also looking for a person of interest linked to the murder case.

Detectives are encouraging anyone with information about the murders to call the Galveston County Sheriff's Office TIPLINE at 866-248-8477 or Galveston County Crimestoppers at 409-763-8477.
