Two suspects charged in brutal killing of teen found in Clear Lake area apartment

HOUSTON

The body of Corriann Cervantes was found in a vacant apartment unit in the 16000 block of El Camino Real early Saturday morning. Houston police say there was evidence of occult activity in the apartment and on the victim's body.

Seventeen-year-old Jose E. Reyes has been charged with capital murder and a 16-year-old suspect has been referred to the Harris County Juvenile Probation Authority on charges of capital murder.

According to law enforcement sources, Reyes confessed to killing Cervantes with a friend, so his friend "could sell his soul to the devil." Cervantes was found partially clothed and had severe head trauma and numerous brutal injuries. They say she had a broken toilet tank lid around her head and an upside-down cross carved in her stomach.

Police arrested the Reyes after receiving information from the Webster Police Department that he had confessed to a family member. The 16-year-old suspect was arrested at Clear Path Alternative school in the Clear Creek School ISD.

The victim also attended the alternative school.

Clear Creek ISD is offering counseling at the alternative school and at Clear Lake High School.

An aunt was at the family home helping the parents cope with their loss. The school district has also offered help to the parents.
