Houston ISD teacher charged for alleged sexual relationship with student

HOUSTON

Jameson Matthew Norman, 32, is charged with two counts of felony improper relationship with a student. Bond was set at $20,000 for each count.

According to court documents, rumors began swirling at Eastwood Academy about Norman's relationship with a 17-year-old female student. Officials said the high school senior denied the relationship when a school counselor spoke to her, and the girl followed up with a letter to the principal, repudiating the allegations against Norman.

Two weeks later, Norman reportedly opened up to a fellow teacher and confessed he had sex with the teen. It was reported to the principal, who notified law enforcement.

A Harris County assistant district attorney interviewed the teen, who admitted the relationship, records state. She told the ADA they first kissed in Norman's classroom right before Thanksgiving break in 2012, and had sex during debate tournaments -- leaving two events and going to his apartment both times.

According to court documents, Norman told a second victim in multiple 2009 emails that he fell in love with her when he first saw her. She was only 15 when they met. That student reportedly told investigators she did not have a sexual relationship with Norman, but she "felt like he was coming on to her."

Norman resigned from his position with HISD in March.
