Images appear to show the cat was painted or dyed in some way; the cat's gray fur can be seen peeking through bright red splotches.

Officials are not asking the public to trap the cat, but they are asking those who have seen the cat recently to send them a direct message through social media with the exact time and location of the cat's last sighting.

Officials in League City are urging residents who spot a cat that appears to be painted or dyed red not to trap it, but to contact them.
