National Rifle Association convention enters last day at GRB

HOUSTON

The featured speaker last night was Glenn Beck. He rallied NRA members, cautioning them to push back against government regulation.

Beck waved a rifle on stage, playing to thousands of NRA members in the crowd, some relegated to overflow rooms because of the vigorous turnout.

The topic, as it has been over the past couple weeks leading up to the NRA's annual meeting, was gun control and the organization's fight to prevent additional regulation.

"They feel they must regulate us until we comply. I will not comply. Cheers," Beck said.

Outside the rally, a handful of protesters read the names of victims of gun-related crimes, most notable were the children killed during the Newtown school shooting in Connecticut earlier this year.

The convention began with a prayer breakfast. At 9:30am, Ted Nugent will greet fans and sign copies of his new book. Nugent will also give the closing address for the convention.

The convention is free to NRA members. There are more than 500 different exhibits, speakers and seminars throughout the day.
