Duo accused of impersonating police officers

HOUSTON

According to court documents, Niles Lautzenhiser and Marcos Mejia-Caceres forced their way into an apartment on Corporate Drive last week. Victims say the pair said they were HPD officers and ordered everyone to the floor.

At some point, one of the victims realized the men were not officers and screamed for someone to call police. That's when investigators say the pair ran out and tried to drive away. One of the victims followed the pair until authorities caught up with them and took them into custody.

Police found a cell phone in their vehicle and traced it back to another man who said Lautzenhiser and Mejia-Caceres had robbed him of the phone and nearly $900 in cash. They are both charged with impersonating a public servant and robbery.
