Wrong-way driver leads police on chase

HOUSTON

The driver was pulled over on the North Loop near the Hardy Toll Road around 1:45am.

Harris County sheriff's deputies say the driver was heading north in the southbound lanes of the East Loop and continued to drive after being pursued by several marked units. Deputies were finally able to stop him going westbound on the eastbound lanes on the North Loop.

Deputies tried to spike the vehicle twice but eventually were able to get him to pull over. It's unclear why the driver, who's only being identified right now as a 40-year-old male, was driving the wrong way. Drug and alcohol tests will be performed.

Fortunately, the driver didn't hit any other vehicles. He's in custody with charges pending.
