Driver slams into building after being shot

HOUSTON

According to detectives, there was an altercation at the Lord Loudoun pub on Louetta near Kuykendahl at about 1:30am.

Investigators say the driver and his passenger were asked to leave the bar and were escorted out. The altercation then spilled in the parking lot where the driver allegedly tried to run over two male bar workers.

Authorities say those workers, who were both armed, pulled out their weapons and fired several shots at the driver. Witnesses reported hearing up to six shots being fired.

The driver drove a mile down the road before slamming into an AT&T store.

The driver of the car, identified as Ross Warax, 24, died at the scene, from a single gunshot wound, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office. Warax's girlfriend suffered non-life threatening injuries from the crash, and was transported by EMS to a local hospital.

"I was at a loss of words. I didn't really have much to say," said store owner Alex Gonzalez. "Of course, I don't know a whole bunch about what is going on but it seems like a tragedy."

A deputy conducting a traffic stop nearby detained Jamal Turner, who had a handgun in his car and reportedly admitted to shooting at Warax's vehicle.

Deputies say Chad Kilpatrick, an employee of the bar, drove up to the crash scene and told investigators he was also involved in the disturbance and admitted shooting at Warax's vehicle as it was leaving the bar. His handgun was also recovered.

Both Turner, 22, and Kilpatrick, 23, are charged with murder.

The case is being investigated by the Harris County Sheriff's Office Homicide Unit. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the Homicide Unit at 713-967-5810.
