The hospital says a laptop was stolen from a doctor's home on April 30. The laptop contained names, medical records and in some cases Social Security numbers of some patients. MD Anderson says it is mailing letters to patients who may be affected.
The hospital is also increasing its encrypting technology to prevent possible breaches in the future.
