Two men escape house fire in east Houston

HOUSTON

The fire broke out around 2am at a home on Blythe near Westmont in east Houston.

The homeowner learned about the fire from his mother, who lives a few doors down. He leases the home to two men.

"One of them I guess was asleep on the couch and yelled at the other guy and they came outside," said homeowner Eddie Wood. "I guess the back was on fire. I guess they just gathered up the dogs and ran out the front door."

No one was hurt. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
