A school district employee near Amarillo died when a district pickup truck he had turned on burst into flames.

The Amarillo Globe-News reports that Tommy Barrett was killed in an explosion Wednesday morning. The blast broke windows in neighboring houses and scattered debris on the street.

Investigators have found no signs of foul play, but say they found two cans of the colorless gas acetylene inside the truck's cab.

The 58-year-old Barrett worked for 12 years as a plumber at the Hereford School District.
