Two people were killed in a five-car pileup in north Harris County overnight, and the accident is blamed on a suspected drunken driver.

The wreck happened around 11:30pm Saturday on the North Beltway near Veterans Memorial. Deputies said the vehicles collided in the westbound lanes of Beltway 8.

Several people were taken to the hospital with unknown injuries. A brother and sister were killed in the crash -- Erica Montez, 27, and Nick Montez, 24.

Crews worked for hours clearing the debris, which created a traffic back-up.

The Harris County Precinct 4 Constable's Office announced Sunday evening that one of the men transported to the hospital was in custody for causing the accident. His name has not been released. Charges are pending.
