Spring teacher accused of raping girl in classroom appears in court

HOUSTON

Andre Levelle Thomas has been a teacher at Roberson Middle School since 2009. He is on administrative leave while the school investigates allegations that he raped a 13-year-old girl in a classroom at Roberson. Court records say in late August the teacher called the student into his classroom, then attacked her.

The alleged victim's father is upset because he didn't find out about the investigation until two weeks after it started.

The teacher was under investigation for misuse of a student's cell phone when the girl told them about the rape.

"She was interviewed as another child who might have known about the other student's cell phone and when she was forensically interviewed is when she disclosed about the sexual abuse," said Harris Co. Assistant District Attorney Denise Oncken.

Thomas, 32, is charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child and has posted bond. He has an ankle monitor and has to stay away from children.
